I have to admit, I was spoiled by my New York life. When I lived in Manhattan, it was hard to comprehend why some people made a big deal of sephora or department store hauls. I lived in an area where I was surrounded by abundant Sephoras and department stores and drug stores were more of a rarity. Walking to Sephora was easier than going to walgreens or duane reade. BUT, now that I'm not in New York and it is impossible to walk anywhere, I am slowly realizing how appreciative I should be about going to stores and hauling.
So today, I had a chance to go to Walmart. It took me a while to locate the cosmetics corner, but once I made my way to the corner, I had a chance to look at every single brand sold there. I wasn't really looking for anything specific. I just wanted some fun colors to play around with since all I have at the moment are boring neutral colors. There seemed to be a lot of foundation and lip products, but not much of a variety of eyeshadows. I didn't really like any of the color combinations of the palettes, so all I picked out was Maybelline's EyeStudio Color Explosion in 25 Pink Punch, Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in 515 Coral Crush and Maybelline Lasting Drama 24 hr EyeStudio Gel Liner in Noir Super Intense.
I didn't know until I checked out, but after an intense session of browsing, I ended up with all Maybelline products.
I've heard a lot about the EyeStudio gel liner for quite awhile now. The problem is, I've seen a lot of Asian magazines and blogs raving about Maybelline's gel liner in a different bottle form. I know that Maybelline changes product names and packaging forms in Asia, but I'm not sure if this gel liner formula is the same as the oh-so-great Asian one.
This is how the Asian ones look like.
I didn't review the gel liner because I want to use it before giving it a verdict. Just to give you guys a heads up, the gel liner is a tiny .016 oz size with a brush in the packaging.
Next is the EyeStudio Color Explosion in 25 Pink Punch. I bought the palette because the top color was so sparkly and the colors were all on the safe side (how typical of me :p).
As you can see, there are five colors in the palette and they are all in the pink/purple family. I wasn't impressed with the pigmentation and #1 shade was extremely flaky and crummy. Shade 1, 4 and 5 are on the shimmery side and 2 & 3 are a bit more matte.
I will have to apply them on my lids to give the product a final verdict, but as for now, I'm not in love with the palette.
Next is the lipstick - Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in 515 Coral Crush.
As a lipstick junkie, I have to say I WUVVVVVV ITTT!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is such a bold, summery color, I can't stop thinking about how much I love this color!
Like all color sensational lipsticks, this one has that thick vanilla scent. The lipstick doesn't have any glitters or shimmers (I like'em plain!), but is moist and glossy enough. The pigmentation is great and the color is exactly like its name - Coral Crush. As a coral and red lips lover, I am willing to repurchase this lipstick over and over again.
I give it 5/5 for everything!
I always had a good impression of color sensationals but never put any effort to keep myself updated with the products. As for now, I am madly in love with my new lipstick and I hope I can find more sensational colors at the drug store!! :)
Todays trip to walmart was a success in my opinion. I had fun and I am content with the products I got ^__^*
I can't wait to go again next time and dig through color sensationals again. I'm obsessed!!!
